English
The importance of English cannot be underestimated as it is the global language. It has been recognized that to provide a competitive edge to students in their school education and future learning, it is of paramount importance that they communicate effectively in English. New teaching methodologies are constantly evolving to better the quality of education being imparted but the common thread that underlies all of them is the realization that language proficiency is not perfected by rote learning or other traditional methods used. CfBT Education Services has designed a portfolio of services and products to meet this demand for English Language Proficiency.
- Teacher Training for teachers to enhance their language skills is intensive and customized. The broad outlines of this programme are Basic Language Skills, Language Skills to improve Teaching Learning, Communication Skills and Classroom Management. Individual attention to the trainees' specific needs, learner centric methodology and knowledge sharing are salient features of this programme. Pre and Post Programme Assessments help measure the progress made and provide tangible evidence of the same.
- The PIE programme has been designed for rural schools to enhance the students' levels of proficiency in English by improving their Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing Skills. The course is customized and tailored to meet the needs of these students. The teaching is learner centric and learning is through language games and similar activities thus ensuring adequate classroom interaction.
- The Vantage programme that is the English Language Lab has been developed by CfBTES and enriches the experience of learning English. It develops the four language skills and encourages independent learning. It complements training by reinforcing concepts and motivates children to augment their learning. It also utilizes existing resources. Each language skill has a segment of its own. For instance the Listening section has an audio/video facility to enable students to hone their listening skills. The Speaking/Recording section provides the opportunity for students to record their voices to improve their intonation and stress. The Reading section promotes interest in the language and provides an opportunity for independent, lifelong learning. The Writing Section facilitates individual activities by providing distraction free working space enabling creativity. CfBTES trains teachers to perform the role of lab managers in the school. Skilled experts monitor the performance of students and then track this data for sharing with the school management. CfBTES has assisted 10 schools in setting up English Language Labs to improve the articulation skills of students. This includes training teachers and monitoring the functioning of the English Language Labs.
- The Cambridge ESOL Programme is provided through the Business English Certificate-BEC, Young Learners' Exam-YLE, Business Language Testing Services-BULATS and Teaching Knowledge Test-TKT, some of the exams by the University of Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages. Apart from being the authorized centre for Cambridge ESOL in Andhra Pradesh, CfBTES performs the role of training candidates to write these exams whether it is YLE for schools, BEC for colleges, BULATS for corporate professionals and TKT for English teachers. Cambridge ESOL is known for its high quality of assessment and its certificates are a mark of achievement.
